We have reduced the amount of drainage water by a more efficient use of
applied water with the deployment of drip irrigation and sprinklers. Our agro-forestry
halophyte fields have proven to volatilize selenium. Such phyto-remediation processes are now the model for IFDM statewide.
We also have new legislation in place (SB 1372 Machado) that will deregulate saline water management systems from the
governance of the Toxic Pits Cleanup Act (TPCA) of 1984.
Advocates of our IFDM system include the United States Department of Agriculture, State Water Resources Control Board,
Department of Water Resources, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Food and Agriculture,
California Fish and Game, Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Reclamation.
Our system is working...and we can handle more drainage water. If you have nearby lands that are tiled (or could be tiled) and
you are in a quandary with identifying responsible drainage water disposal options, I would be more than happy to sit down with
you and design a mutually beneficial agreement for handling your effluent.
Additionally, if you would like to design an IFDM system on your own lands, I would be available to engineer the system and navigate the regulatory protocol on your behalf.
Sincerely,
Michael Andrews
